Frequently Asked Questions

About Saint's Pantry Food Bank

What is a food bank?
A food bank is neighbors helping neighbors. The Saints' Pantry Food Bank is a central location to collect and distribute donated food in our community. We receive food donations from a variety of sources, sort it and store it in our warehouse, and distribute it to our neighbors in need. All food is supplied at no charge.

How can I receive food at the The Saints' Pantry?
Simply come in to the food bank on a Tuesday or Wednesday between 9:30 am and 12 noon. Tell us that you need food and fill out a simple application, which asks for your name, address, and members of your family living with you. You will also need a proof of residence so we can make sure that you are going to the food bank closest to your home. You may come to the food bank once a week to receive food and the other services that we offer.

How do I start a food drive?
We are excited about your interest in helping to end hunger in our community. Your food drive will not only collect food - it will help generate awareness of the invisible problem of hunger in our community.
Here are some tips to help you get started. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have.
Organizing a food drive can be fun and exciting. The best way to ensure success is to spend time planning the drive. The primary steps to include in your plan are:
Call us to make it official: We'll be happy to answer any questions and let people know of your efforts.
Set dates: Be sure to allow plenty of time to prepare and get the word out.
Set a goal: Decide how much food you would like to collect during your food drive. How many potential contributors do you have? How much can you reasonably expect to collect from each donor? Will you collect food or cash / or both?
Develop a Collection System: Determine how and where food will be collected. You can use boxes, barrels or bins. Small to medium-size boxes work best for food drives. They aren't too heavy when full and can be labelled so people know where to donate.
Food Delivery: Once collected, one of the best ways you can help us is by delivering the food to The Saints' Panty warehouse located at 214 S. 2nd Street in downtown Shelton, during our operating hours. Your extra effort to deliver the food helps us be more efficient.

Thank you for partnering with us to fight hunger in our hometown!
